The hip-hop world has showed its collective ass once again. This time, at the Vibe Awards. A fight broke out near the stage at the show in Santa Monica, Calif., as Snoop Dogg and Quincy Jones were preparing to honor Dr. Dre with a lifetime achievement award. One person was stabbed. The Los Angeles Times, citing an unnamed associate of Dre, said a man walked up to Dre’s table and punched him, and Dre’s bodyguards went after the man. Suge Knight, Dre’s ex-ally turned foe proclaimed afterward, “It’s really important that we don’t take a negative incident like this and do away with the awards.”
According to news reports, Young Buck of 50 Cent’s G-Unit was the stabbing culprit. The reports state that Young Buck can be seen clearly on video pulling out a knife and driving it into the victim’s chest–all in front of video cameras for the world to see. What amazes me is that Young Buck–like Shyne before him–is stupid enough to throw away his entire life and career in the blink of an eye, and over some more nonsense. Like Shyne, he saw Dre, his meal-ticket, in trouble, and he just had to pull out the knife. Now he’ll be taking his meal ticket to the bread and water line.
