Bonds Used Steroids

The San Francisco Chronicle has reported that Home Run King Barry Bonds “unknowlingly” took steroids. Bonds has testified that he used “a clear substance and a cream” but never thought they were steroids. He went on to testify that he was told that the substances were flaxseed oil and a rubbing balm for arthritis.

This is unfortunate. I wonder why any professional athlete would take any substance without knowing what it is. And when they do take a substance that gives them such an improvement as Bonds experienced from 2000, where he hit 49 home runs, to 2001, where he hit the record setting 73 home runs, the explanation seems flimsy at best.

I believe Bonds knew what he was doing. It’s sad that his carreer and his future may be judged by this mistake.

Next up is Marion Jones. The founder of BALCO says he gave her performing enhancing drugs and watched her inject HGH in 2001. How will her legacy be affected?
