Heavyelectromagneticsoularpoeticjunglehop

Jennifer Johns. Remember her name. She will be re-releasing her first album, Heavyelectromagneticsoularpoeticjunglehop, later this year. You can hear two songs from the album on her website and one that’s extra.

My friend Rob Collins with Zion-I turned me on to her when I visited the Bay area last summer. I popped in her CD just before going over the Golden Gate Bridge. By the time I got to the other side, I had played track two, “Do You Believe In Love,” three times. The last time that happened was track 6 on Urban Hang Suite. “. . . Till The Cops Come Knockin.” Then came track three, “Beautiful.” That also got 3x play. Her CD made me wish my drive to Napa and Sonoma took longer than it did.

I have to admit that I was surprised that my boy dropped this gem on me for free ninety-nine! Jennifer sings and incorporates spoken word throughout her album. She is gifted in both areas. Her spoken word is so exquisitely showcased in “Do You Believe In Love” that it makes you reminisce about that summer love you met once just by happenstance. Sunny, breezy days with linen. And then she did a remake of “Cherish The Day.” AND it’s worthy!

AND she can sang! But I haven’t yet heard her sing live. So look here, and here, and here, to hear from people who have.

This artist is worth your attention. You can get her independently released EP on Amazon. Or you can wait for the re-release. Either way, join this movement!

PS. Check Gaelle out. From the ATL.
