The National Security Archives released late yesterday the first memo within the Bush administration on Al Qaeda. It was dated on January 25, 2001, only five days after Bush was sworn in, from Richard Clarke to Condi Rice. He states in the first paragraph, “We urgently need such a Principals level review on the Al Qida network.”
So when was the first Principal level review of Al Qaeda? September 4, 2001. One week before the attacks on America. This is in stark contrast to Rice’s statement in a Washington Post op-ed on March 24, 2004, in which she stated that, “No Al Qaeda plan was turned over to the new administration.”
But, hey, what’s the use? The American people have spoken, right? Why am I still complaining? Because the search for the truth is never futile. It travels slower than lies but it will catch up with this administration.
