The Killing Continues

141 days. Nicholas Kristoff reports that it has been 141 days since President Bush uttered a word about the genocide in Darfur. Since that time, where he only mentioned the tragedy in passing, the White House killed the Darfur Accountability Act that would have helped alleviate the crises in the Sudan. Since that time countless more have been killed.
The State Of . . . Darfur is still deteriorating. Justin and I have both written to our Senators and Representatives a number of times. We hope you do the same. To the right in our list of “links” you will find the links to the Senate, the House of Representatives, and The White House. Use them to contact your Senator, Representative or the Office of the President to demand action.
When in the 8th grade, one of my classes did a six week study on the Jewish Holocaust. On a number of days a survivor came to speak with us about how the atrocity began and how the general public of Germany and the world stood by and acquiesced. At the end of her time she insisted that what we take away from here presence and this six week study is to never stand by and watch such things happen. They must be stopped.
