The Chinese National Offshore Oil Company has made an $18.5 billion bid for U.S. owned oil company Unocal. This comes after Unocal agreed to be bought by Chevron for $16.4 billion. This may be the largest takeover battle by a foreign state owned corporation of a U.S. company.
