Pat Robertson Calls For Assassination Of Foreign Leader

On Monday, televangelist Pat Robertson called for the U.S. to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez so that he can be prevented from turning his country into a “launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism.” Robertson further went on to say that “[w]e have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come for us to exercise that ability. . . We don’t need another $200 Billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. . . . It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.”

Robertson added chillingly: “You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re really trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it . . . It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war . . . and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.

The State Of . . the extreme religious right in this country is out of control! Robertson’s comments show that they believe they have so much power in this country that they are able to sway foreign policy. Robertson is an American citizen and is entitled to say whatever he wants. And he should. And his comments should be broadcast and printed whenever they can so the whole world can see how crazy this wacko is.

I wonder how long it will take his camp to issue a statement saying his comments “were taken out of context,” he wasn’t feeling well or his medication was off?
