Is President Bush For Torture?

The President is poised to use his first veto on a bill that would fund military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan so he can have the prerogative to subject detainees to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

Senator John McCain has sponsored a bill that would have American Troops follow interrogation standards set in the Army Field Manual and bar “cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment” of prisoners in U.S. custody. The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 90-9. The President’s Spokesman, Scott McClellan, said that the bill “would limit the president’s ability as commander-in-chief to effectively carry out the war on terrorism.”

McCain’s bill will close any loopholes on the definition of torture and help repair the damage caused by the Abu ghuraib scandal. However, President and his minions feel The State of . . . America would suffer if torture is defined. Apparently, the President is not worried about declaring this administration’s moral bankruptcy to the world.
