The National Rifle Association and the powerful gun lobby is on the verge of scoring a major victory. The House passed a bill 283-144 that would shield gun makers from massive lawsuits from the victims of violent crimes. The gun lobby said that the bill was necessary to keep them from going bankrupt. As if people were going to stop buying guns.
The State Of . . . The Republican controlled Congress has been bought and sold. The firearms industry gave 88 percent of its campaign contributions to Republicans in 2004. They Congress has paid back their masters in a big way.
