Coretta Scott King Dies at 78

Coretta Scott King has passed away after suffering from a stroke she suffered in August of last year. Although the stroke left her weakened on the right side, unable to walk, and barely able to speak, she made an appearance this past Saturday at an event in Atlanta to commemorate her husband. Her passing was announced by former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young this morning by phone call to the “Today” show on NBC. According to Young, she passed away in her sleep. There are conficting reports as to whether she died Monday night or early this morning.
