At yesterday’s Oscar’s, Three-Six Mafia won an Academy Award for their song, It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp, which appeared in the movie Hustle and Flow. Not only did the Mafia win best song, but they were also permitted to perform during the show, which was watched by tens of millions. As usual, the performance was replete with brainless, half-naked black women (i.e., “bitches”) shaking their butts for the black men (i.e., “pimps”). Actor Terrence Howard chose not to perform with the Mafia.
Black Americans, whether free or slaves, have always been entertainment for white folks. When we were slaves, we had no choice. Now, the most recognizable members of the African American community, our artists, are nothing more than paid minstrels–assassins–in my book. Shame on the Academy Awards, Hollywood, Three Six Mafia, Terrence Howard, John Singleton (for clapping), Queen Latifah (for being a proud coon, in general) and every other black rapper, actor, musician or other person that enables this neo-Stepin Fetchit garbage in order to fulfill white America’s lust to see black people embarrass themselves.
