Black Women Leadership Conference

Spelman College’s Center for Leadership and Civic engagement is hosting a conference on Black women leaders starting today through tomorrow. According to its website the conference is for women and men who value and leverage multicultural experiences brought to the workplace and community by women of color. The conference will focus on three central questions:

  • Why is building bridges an important leadership attribute?
  • What is the leadership role of women of color in building bridges domestically and globally?
  • How do we maximize the leadership role of women of color in building bridges domestically and globally?

Speakers include Andrew Young, Anna Escobedo Cabral, Treasurer of the U.S. (pictured below because she’s cute), and Mayor Shirley Franklin (pictured above because she’s cute . . . and because they are leaders, of course). You can hear more about the conference from the College President Beverly Tatum and the executive director of the Center Jane Smith on News and Notes with Ed Gordon.
The State Of . . . women of color is doing well. You go girls! We got Toni’s work as the best in 25 years and now we got Spelman talking about how to make more strong women leaders. I think when the women step up, we all step up.
