Last Thursday, Kwame Kilpatrick along with Operation King Dream filed suit to prevent a ballot initiative to ban the use of race and gender favored programs sponsored by the Darth Ward Connerly. Apparently, the supporters of the ballot initiative, called the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, mislead many of the people who signed the petition to put the initiative on the ballot. Many people believed they were signing in support of affirmative action. A proposed state constitutional amendment is slated to be on the ballot this November. If Kwame wins, the measure will be taken off the ballot. If Connerly wins, his minions will bring peace to the galaxy the only way an empire knows how.
Although I’ve criticized Kwame in the past for being the Hip-Hop Mayor, I (rich) support his efforts on this front. This matter should have a full hearing and vetting to ensure whether or not fraud was involved. I think the mere name of the anti-affirmative action group, the Civil Rights Initiative, is misleading on its face. Besides, I don’t think Michigan residents think that The State Of . . . Michigan would improve by passing this measure. I’m sure there are more important things challenging the state.
