New Rule: Diamonds are for Women ONLY!

I (J) went to a party the other day and it seemed ever single black man there had two big diamond studs in his ear. This phenomenon of black men worshipping “ice” is about 10 years old. It’s time to move on. In case these brothers haven’t heard the song: diamonds are a girl’s best friend, not a guy’s. Diamonds are feminine jewely. Men shouldn’t sport them.

What’s worse is I often notice little black boys and young teens sporting faux diamonds. This “ice” trend is part and parcel of the decline of the black male identity and the rampant consumerism that has consumed us along with the rest of America. With black male actors wearing dresses on screen, abandoning their children at a 70% clip, and sometimes refusing honest jobs, it’s clear to me that black men have lost pride in their once unchallenged masculinity Now, brothers are trying to be “pretty.”
