Venerable Morehouse College President Walter Massey announced that he will step down at the end of this academic year. Massey, a 1958 Morehouse graduate, was named as the college’s ninth president in 1995. He is a physicist, former senior vice president and provost of the University of California System, and former director of the National Science Foundation. During his tenure, Massey presided over the largest capital campaign in the Morehouse history, according to the college’s prepared statement.
