On Christmas Day Ethiopian jets strafed Somali airports in an open act of war between the two countries. Islamist leaders, who have defeated CIA backed opposition, control Mogadishu, Somalia. The CIA has been paying secular opposition since 1995.
As of today, according to the BBC, Ethiopian and Somali government forces are advancing towards Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, which is currently held by the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC).
The State Of . . . . Africa is continuing to get short shrift from the White House. Instead of minimizing the chances of Somalia falling into the control of Islamist extremists, they have pushed the country into extremist arms.
If you want to keep up on this war, I (rich) would read the BBC or other world news outlets. They tend to cover Africa better no matter in war or in peace.
