Looking For "The One"

Many of the people I(J) interact with, those in the 20s and particularly in their 30s talk of finding “the one” for them. Most of the unmarried men and women I know shrug their shoulders and say, “I just ain’t met ‘the one.’”

I don’t believe in the concept of “the one.”

Out of the 6 billion people on earth, isn’t it conceivable that you could fall in love with and get along with more than 1 person? I should hope so, otherwise something may be wrong with you. What’s more, if you go through life under the delusion that there is only 1 person on earth that you are compatible with, that limits your openness and can make you suspicious of most of the people you meet. In addition, it creates unrealistic notions of romance, as if love is a big party, with no challenges or troubled waters simply because you are with your perfect “one.”
