Naked “Twister,” Body Shots, Taboo, Truth or Dare–we played it all. Nah, just kidding. This past weekend, a few of us got together at Dina’s for her annual Game Night. The guest list looked like a Janet Jackson video–every conceivable race on earth (and every combination one could think of) was in attendance. I (J) think there were even some Tibetans in the house. Dina’s man manned the industrial strength blender; Denmark Vesey, always rockin‘ the J. Crew (that’s right y’all), came through and dropped some knowledge; Ike’s Mom (Big J’s better half) was breakin‘ down the difference between carbs and proteins; Big J held court against the Pharisees; and Jasai spread her (((motherly))) wisdom, etc. A good time was had by all.
A couple of “lurkers” i.e., those that read but don’t confronted DV and Big J about our alleged “homophobia.” This, in turn, led to an hour long argument over why men turn gay, molestation, human nature, James Baldwin and Don Imus. You never know what’ll happen when you encounter smart people.
Nothing is better than a good house party. Unlike clubs, where people are endlessly walking around in circles, house parties are relaxed and cool. You can just bounce from person to person, making conversations and getting drunk in the process.
