I Wonder As I Wander: Atlanta, Georgia

This past weekend was my (J) 10-year reunion from Morehouse. Seemingly everyone came back to ATL from all around the country. Kareem, JD, Rich, KP, Cleezy, Yani, and the whole crew (Where was Maceo? Shame on you, Damien) came to town.

On Saturday, we had a Reunion BBQ. It was good to see faces that I had not seen in 10 years. There is a special relationship between Morehouse and Spelman that I pray will last foreover. Other than seeing old friends, the best part of Reunion Weekend was seeing so many happily married black couples with children. I’d say roughly 50% of my classmates are married, and most of them have children.

On the other side, there were still many single men and women doing the same things they were doing 10 years ago. Still stuntin’, still talking about the material things they want and ain’t got. It was funny to look into the eyes of a few of the prettiest women, still struggling with promiscuity, trapped by the desire for attention to men.

Rich. My ears are still ringing from the @#$% club on Saturday. Itw as good being with my old crew-VDT, DG, and them LA Boys. The best part of the weekend was seeing that those who came are still in good health and, at least for the weekend, in good spirits. And J has already said the rest.
