Quote of the Day: Harold Ford, Jr.

Since y’all say it was Solange’s baby, don’t clam up now that it’s political. Peep this: STOLEN from my girl Shay at Bookerrising.com w/ commentary by Big J. What is this House Negro saying that George W. Bush ain’t?

“We need a 21st-century containment policy similar to the policy that guided Presidents Truman [who dropped 2 nuclear bombs on Japan and killed nearly a million civilians] through Reagan in winning the Cold War. Like Communism, terrorism also threatens our way of life, our values [which are?] and our security. We must stamp out the evil of terrorism wherever it exists [terrorism is a tactic, not an evil], while promoting the enduring values of democracy[e-voting], liberty [for us, only] and freedom [read: while still allowing us to "get money."] Our relentless focus should be on fighting al-Qaida and ending its ruthless campaign of terrorism. There are several changes we must make to execute this 21st-century containment policy. [read: New World Order] First, we must redeploy our troops over time out of Iraq to bases in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates [so that we can kill the Arabs when necessary without putting our troops at everyday risk]. We must train our focus, resources and firepower on going after al-Qaida full-time. [How can a military chase down a band of loosely-affiliated citizens of dozens of countries?] To the extent that al-Qaida is seeking refuge in Iraq[where it was not prior to the war], Pakistan [where Musharraf can't even leave his house], Syria, Jordan or elsewhere, we will use our troops in the region — particularly our Special Forces troops — and hunt them down. [Oh really, how is that?] Second, we must step out of our unilateral role in bringing reconciliation and convene Iran [Uh oh, Harold, you case lose a career saying that], Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and other players in the region, along with the rest of the world community, in an effort to bring peace and political stability to Iraq…..[a bloodbath is impossible to avert] Third, we must increase our troop strength and fund another 150,000 troops to meet the present-day reality of our security threats.[read: New World Order - some of these troops will invariably be used to control the American public. I thought you just said we need to get out of Iraq. Where will these 150,000 troops go? To maintain "peace" in the Middle East?] One of President Bush’s biggest mistakes was not putting enough troops on the ground to secure the peace after the initial invasion of Iraq. [The biggest mistake was going into Iraq in the first place - let's be clear, Harold.] We have done great damage to our force structure over the last four years [nevermind the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis] and we must do everything we can to repair it quickly in order to carry out the containment [what "containment" policy?] policy. Fourth, we must reduce our dependence on foreign oil. [No shit.] That we are helping to fund al-Qaida through the large amounts of oil we import from Arab countries is unacceptable. [Fact: the USA is spending billions per day on oil. Some of these funds go to illegitimate Arab governments, which have close cultural ties to various groups, including those that oppose U.S. hegemony.] We must direct all of our resources, technology and know-how and transition away from a fossil fuel-based economy and rely more on clean technologies like solar, wind and nuclear power…..[I'm with that, but will it be possible with all the Oil Money flowing to Congress? Only a massive increase in the price of oil will force America to switch.] Finally, we must continue to ally ourselves with and fund moderate elements [read: Sellouts] in the Arab world that appreciate freedom and democracy. [Read: most of them are too stupid to "appreciate" freedom."] We must encourage more Americans to learn to speak Arabic [Harold, that could backfire. If they learn to speak it, they might learn that it ain't all bad] and have a deeper understanding of Arabic culture and history [like you, Harold?]. We must also foster and support college and cultural exchanges with that region of the world.” — Harold Ford Jr., chair of the moderate-liberal Democratic Leadership Council and a former Congressman
