Some of the 700 Biblical rules A.J. Jacobs followed for a year while researching his book, “The Year of Living Biblically.”
Wise and Life Enhancing Rules:
- Keep the Sabbath
- Let your garments always be white. Ecclesiastes 9:8
- No gossip
- Give thanks to the Lord
Most Difficult to Follow
- You shall not trim the corners of your bread. Leviticus 19:27.
- You shall not lie in a bed where a menstruating woman has lain or sit in a hcair where she has sat. Leviticus 15:20
- Put to death men and women who commit adultery.
The State Of . . . the Bible. I (rich) doubt that any of use can live a week let alone a year following a fraction of the 700 rules this guy found in the Bible. I went through some and there was one that was mis-cited as Deuteronomy 45:11-12. EVERYBODY knows that Deuteronomy only has 34 chapters and he meant 25:11-12. This rule stated that is you are in a fight with a man, and his wife grabs your “secrets,” you shall cut off her hand. Personally, I think I should be allowed to cut off a man’s hand if he grabs my “secrets.”
