Move Massacre a Mass Suicide?

The Guiness Book of Records has cited the massacre involving the back to nature sect MOVE of Philadelphia as a modern mass suicide. Back in 1985, the city of Brotherly love dropped a bomb on the row homes occupied by the Move members. The bomb started a fire that spread to nearby homes and destroyed the whole block. The city was answering the call from neighbors who considered MOVE a nuisance and a threat to their neighborhood.

“Suicide?” asks [Romona] Africa (pictured above), the sole adult survivor of the May 13, 1985, inferno started by a bomb dropped by the city. The fire also leveled a block of Osage Avenue in West Philly.

Africa points out that the city paid millions to the so-called back-to-nature group to settle civil suits. “Why would they settle if it was mass suicide?” she says.

The State of . . . history. Forces are constantly trying to rewrite it. After living in Philly for five years, I (rich) never came across anyone who thought these people committed suicide.
