Lovie Yancey

Yancey was the founder of Fatburger in South LA. I’m sure you Left Coasters know all about it. She died last Saturday of Pneumonia. Her work ethic:

“I worked 16, 17 and 18 hours a day behind the counter, seven days a week,” Yancey recalled in the 1985 interview. “I’d come home, catch a few hours of sleep and start all over again.”

The State Of . . . LA will surely miss Ms Yancey. Although she sold the company years ago she retained ownership of the restaurant on Western Avenue. Her funeral is on Monday
