Al Gores Attributes Myanmar Cyclone To “Global Warming” (Big J Calls B.S.)

Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global warming activists, and it was just a matter of time before someone found a way to tie the recent Myanmar cyclone to global warming.

“Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

TheStateOf. . . Global Warming. From now on, every instance of severe weather will be attributed to “global warming,” a “phenomenon” which has no scientific data to support it, other than Gore’s movie. Moreover, the world’s climate is constantly changing. There was once an “ice bridge” between Russia and Alaska; there also was an Ice Age. If the Elites want us to conserve energy because we can’t afford it anymore, they should just tell us. Spare us the brainwashing.

  1. You mean ‘Soon-to-be President Al Gore Attributes….’

  2. After all of that is there really any point in trying to have a reasoned discussion?

  3. What do you mean Pres?

  4. Pres is under the mistaken impression that to save the Democratic Party from disintegrating the party elders are going to pick Gore as the presidential nominee although Gore has stated time and again that he is not interested.

  5. Yeah Big J! How long ago did we call this?

They don’t say anything about “global warming” when it’s snowing in the midwest in April!

  6. Come on man …

Where dem bumbaclot get dat frum?

That’s like nominating Sasha Vujacic for MVP instead of Kobe Bryant to save the NBA from disintegrating.

Obama is the most galvanizing, compelling and capable politician this country has seen since JFK. Maybe ever. White or black. Man or woman.

More people are voting than have ever voted. TV ratings are through the roof. Al Gore hasn’t won a race since 1988. G.T,F,O,H,

This talk about “electibility” is a head fake. Obama can beat McCain, Bush and Ronald Reagan if they were all on the same ticket. The Clinton race was not even as close as it appeared had it not been for 100,000 Republicans voting in the Democratic primary in an attempt to sabotage his nomination.

    Didn’t work.

Barack Obama is a prophet in the spirit of Jesus of Nazareth. In the spirit of Gotama Buddha. In the spirit of Nelson Mandela. In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr.

Al Gore is just a washed up politician who has put his name on on a pseudo scientific secular apocalyptic theory.

  7. Go Easy DV…
I haven’t had my coffee yet.

    Gore is tasteless.
As a former VP, he should have been lending his name to a humanitarian relief drive that actually helps people. But, he chose to take a tragedy and promote his own agenda…Tasteless.

Whether it is global warming or not. There are still dead to be buried and a country to be rebuilt.

  8. Roderick,

I don’t see how we can attribute every single act of extreme weather to Global Warming.

  9. J, it isn’t one single act of weather.

Do you remember 2005 when Katrina hit NOLA?

Do you remember 2004 when Florida was raked by five hurricanes?

But it shouldn’t be a surprise when you are adding millions of people to the earth, adding tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and cutting down trees and other vegetation every day.

The First Law of Thermodynamics still holds true.

  10. Rod,

I can DEFINITELY see how the cutting of trees and the release of massive amounts of carbons can change the climate - I’m just not sure that’s the cause of Katrina, etc. That’s some inductive reasoning to me. A Category Five hit NOLA in 1967, right? And to what do you attribute the Ice Age and the Ice Bridge.

In any case, I’m totally willing to adopt stiff environmental regulations….

  11. Roderick.

You think I am thinking too deeply.

I do not trust the majority of ‘Americans’ (dats code y’all) to vote for a black man for POTUS.

Hillary ain’t throwing in the towel - not after ‘lending ‘ herself $6 mil, and I do not trust ‘em.

Carnack see brokered convention and man on white hose to the rescue.

  12. Rod,

I feel you on the carbon and the trees, but I also feel J’s point. Every bit of extreme weather can’t be attributed to climate change, at least not at this point in the process. The data states that the average temperature of the earth has increased 2 degrees F over the last 50 years. 2 degrees isn’t enough to attribute all severe weather to climate change…

    J,
…it is enough however to indicate we are heading in the wrong direction wrt our stewardship of the environment. Considering a 10 degree shift in temperature is considered the point at which climate change will detrimentally manifest itself, we’re 20% of the way there. I agree, Gore’s comments are BS and he and other’s too far in the climate change camp only serve to push cats like you in the other direction and no one meets in the middle to solve the problem.

  13. I understand that it seems presumptuous to attribute these disasters to global warming. But the fact is that no one really can predict what kind of effect we have on this planet. Yes, disasters happen with or without Al Gore, but you cannot argue the fact that there has been an increase in activity worldwide. But its not just weather; it is also tectonic.

Drop Global Warming for a tick, and research Pole Shift. You may be surprised. But still, if you dig deep enough, you will see there are a number of disasters ready to take us out, regardless of cause. And 7 billion people, 12 billion by 2020, is not gonna help a damn thing. Keep it in your pants, gentlemen!
