“Obama will soon set off on a marathon trip that will take in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Jordan, Germany, France and, lastly, Britain. The exact timing of the visit to Iraq and Afghanistan is being kept under wraps for security reasons, but he is expected in Britain on July 25 or 26. His campaign team and the British government had originally discussed making the UK his first stop but, citing diary clashes, rescheduled it as the last.
TheStateOf . . . Obama’s World Trip. Obama must be reading TSO, because I (J) stated 5 months ago that Obama should go to Europe and watch the people line the streets for his motorcade. The risk is that he may appear to be “too European” - or worse, “French,” like John Kerry. Polls mostly show Obama leading McCain by between 3 and 7 points nationally. More importantly, Obama appears to be leading in most of the battleground states. I always look at Missouri as the bellweather state.

Roderick: you may want to take into account the Bradley effect before you get too excited.

I wish Obama could pick MO’s junior Senator Claire McCaskill as his VP to take Missouri from the Republicans in November because she could placate some of the angry women who are pissed that Hillary didn’t win and she could help him win unfortunately she has less experience than Obama.*sigh*
Rod,
I hear you. I’m not over-confident. I think Barack has a tough fight ahead. In particular, I think he needs to do very well in the debates. But I don’t believe in the “Bradley effect.” You campaign, you win. Play hard or stay home.
I like McCaskill alot too, especially because she endorsed Barack, but she’s new to the Senate as well, so I don’t think he should pick her. What do you think about Evan Bayh? He’s the plainest white guy you’ll ever see, but he’s got a lot of years on the Armed Services committee.
Standing next to Barack, it’s going to be hard for any white guy to not be viewed as “the plainest white guy you’ll ever see.” I’ve given up wondering who he’s going to pick.
So what’s up with Denver, guys? His speech is at Mile High and it’s free. How easy is it to hop on a plane from LAX to Denver? Or from O’hare? I know some people here who are talking about going over.
Rich,
I am considering going, but I haven’t decided. The Convention is an awesome place for networking and free booze.
holla.
